Heritage Excursion: A walk through Wallan Wallan Cemetery, 18 Mar

DEAD MEN DO TELL TALES!

A WALK THROUGH WALLAN WALLAN CEMETERY

The Wallan Cemetery Tour, which was cancelled because of extremely wet weather late last year, will now be held at 5.30 pm on Saturday, 18 March 2017 – and interesting twilight experience.

The first burial in the cemetery took place in 1858 so there are many headstones that date back to the 1860s – and each has a story to tell of families long gone.

Names such as Budd, Sinclair, Laffan, McLeod, Sutherland, McNaughton and many more are synonymous with the history of this once small hamlet on the Sydney Road.

Everyone is welcome;  no charge for members and a $5 charge for non members.

Please dress appropriately for the weather.

Remember to respect the fact that there are many unmarked graves in the Cemetery as well as those marked by headstones.
