World War One 100th Centenary
Over the period July 2014 to late 2018 the Society, in conjunction with other local groups, is publishing short profiles each week in the North Central Review, recognising the contribution made by local men and women who volunteered for service in World War One. These profiles will also be progressively published on this web site.
Court of Petty Sessions Registers
The indexing of the Kilmore Court of Petty Sessions Registers 1888-1948 of 22 volumes was completed in 2018 and the Court Registers have been lodged with the Public Record Office of Victoria.
Photograph Collection
The sorting of our photograph collection into categories is proceeding. Following the completion of sorting the intention is to then scan and catalogue the photos onto a suitable platform.
KHS Newsletters
The name indexing of newsletters issued by the Society continues. The run of issues of Kilmore Connections, which started in 1999, has been completed and prior series are being indexed.
Obituaries From Local Newspapers
Significant obituaries have been extracted from local newspapers that have been published over the past 150 years. These are being examined and sorted with the possibility of publishing in book form as they represent a reflection of the contribution of many people to the history of Kilmore and district.

I wondered if you would be interested is receiving copies of my MSWORD documents that I have typed regarding residents from Lancefield, Romsey, Kerrie, Springfield, Darraweit, Kilmore etc. These were typed from items in local newspapers and there are many files. I just thought it might save one of your members typing them up again and I am happy for you to so with them as you please. I worked at the Genealogical Society of Victoria for 20 years and have a great interest in local history. You will find I get side-tracked and try to get as much information on a local family as I can so the newspapers indexed are from all over Victoria and interstate. I like your website and you seem to be a very pro-active group. You will need sort through the various files and they contain all manner of items.

An obituary for my great grandfather Martin Murphy was reported as follows:
Kilmore Free Press (Kilmore, Vic. : 1870 – 1954) – Thursday 23 August 1917 – Page 2
The remains of the late Mr Martin Murphy, who died at Culcairn, N.S.W. were brought to Kilmore East on Monday night per train and removed thence to St. Patrick’s R.C. Church, from which place the funeral moved on Tuesday afternoon. The interment took place in the Catholic Cemetery, Father Little attending to the obsquies at the grave. Mr Beegan having charge of the mortuary arrangements. The deceased, prior to taking up residence at Culcairn, was for years a much respected resident of Springfield and Glenaroua, his farm property at the latter place being disposed of a short time ago., Mr Murphy, who was about 84 years of age, was a kindly citizen, and many of his old friends and neighbours in this quarter will long bear him in kindly recollection.
